Run by Nebraskans Embracing Life, a pro-life organization, Surprise Thrift Shop in Omaha carries a large stock of baby clothes as well as clothing for adults and kids. Shoes, purses, hats, scarves and linens are mixed in with books, CDs, DVDs, jewelry, dishes, picture frames and pictures.
Religious goods stand out, with rosaries and statues set among the trinkets, and there is always a sale running. The shop is in a red brick building with a red rose on its sign, and a flight of concrete steps leads up to the door. It opens only on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and it closes every year from late December into early January.
