This charity thrift store in Fayetteville, North Carolina, raises support for the Orphans of Kenya Project, a Christian ministry working to meet the physical, spiritual and educational needs of orphaned children in Kenya. The project is tied to Elim Ministries International and plans to buy one hundred acres in the countryside of Nakuru to start Elim Orphanage.
Plans call for cottages that each house twenty orphans and a house parent, along with wells, a cafeteria, a nurses' station and a playground. Later, a church, a school and a mission compound for visiting volunteers will follow, and the rest of the land will be farmed for food. The shop has a stone front under a red metal roof and a large white sign lettered in blue and red. It is open six days a week and closed on Sundays.
