Frederick, Maryland, is home to the Habitat ReStore run by Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County. The home improvement center sells donated building materials, furniture, tools, housewares, electronics, antiques and collectibles, outdoor and sporting goods, medical equipment and fine clothing, and its inventory changes daily as new donations arrive. Proceeds go back into Habitat's local work on safe, affordable homeownership and critical home repairs.
The public can donate building materials and home goods as long as items are clean and in good condition, with no stains, odors, pet hair, holes or damage. Donors drive around to the loading dock at the back of the building, where associates help unload and hand over a receipt. Free pickup is offered for large donations, and the store is closed on Sundays.
