Since 1960, Wesley Thrift Shop in Crawfordsville, Indiana, has put its sales toward church, community, country and world needs, with ties to First United Methodist Church. Recent proceeds have gone to local groups such as the FISH Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, the Boys and Girls Club and the Youth Service Bureau, along with relief work through the United Methodist Commission on Relief.
The shop runs on consignment, so sellers bring in goods under contract and can check their accounts online, with drop-offs and payouts handled on Wednesdays. New items arrive every month, and volunteers help keep the store running. Out front, a white sign shows a large clothes hanger wrapped around the shop's name. The store is open four days a week, Wednesday through Saturday.
