Net proceeds from this Cary thrift shop go back into Home of the Sparrow's programs and services, which help women and children move from homelessness to self-sufficiency. The store sells clothing, furniture and housewares, and apart from mattresses and box springs, everything is new or secondhand merchandise donated by community members. The same goods go free of charge to Home of the Sparrow clients and to clients of partner agencies.
Sparrow's Nest takes donations while the store is open, up to a set cutoff before closing, and asks that nothing be left outside after hours, where weather damages it. Shoppers can join a text-message loyalty rewards program. The store is open six days a week and closed on Sundays, and its name runs across the front in deep red letters, with "Thrift Store" in script.
