Furniture, appliances, clothing, books and household goods fill this 6,000-square-foot store in Port Richey, which is open six days a week and closed on Sundays. The St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit run by the local district of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. All of its profits go to nine Conferences that provide food and financial aid to people in need. Along with goods for the store, donors can also give cash or cars.
The Society was founded in Paris around 1822 and now has nearly one million volunteers in more than 130 countries. Its work includes personal visits, food pantries, financial assistance and referral services. The store sits in a bright blue building with a white metal roof.
