This hospice thrift shop in Sparta sells furniture, home decor and clothing. Every dollar it makes goes to Mountain Valley, a nonprofit hospice. The money pays for end-of-life care and related services for patients who have little or no insurance and can't afford their care. The Sparta shop moved and was fully remade in March 2023, and it's now open five days a week.
Donations are tax-deductible, and items must be clean and in new or lightly worn condition. Call the store before bringing furniture. Large donations can be picked up for free, and donors shouldn't leave items outside. Volunteers work as sales associates, sort and price donations, and help with the box truck. Out front, a bright blue sign shows a hare wearing glasses and a bow tie, and it hangs above a pair of teal doors.
