Since 1980, the Caring Center Thrift Store has been a ministry of First Baptist Church of Durham, created to share the love of Jesus Christ in word and deed with the Durham community. Every dollar from sales goes to the ministries of FBC Durham. The shop sells clothing for men, women and children, plus shoes, accessories, bedding, toys and household items, and it welcomes all shoppers, including church members.
The store is on the lower level at the back of the church, and it opens on Fridays and Saturdays. Anyone can donate clothing and small household items on weekdays by leaving them in the metal drop-off bin next to the entrance. Volunteers work two-hour shifts once a month, on a Friday or a Saturday during store hours.
