A church thrift store at heart, Trinity Thrift Shop is an outreach ministry of Trinity Episcopal Church in Northport, New York, selling clothes and household goods. It is run entirely by volunteers and opens Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. A red hanging sign with gold lettering and the Episcopal shield stands in front of the gray shingled church, whose red double doors match it.
Through the Confidence Closet, the shop works with social service agencies to give free business attire to men and women going to job interviews. When someone has a pressing need, the staff give out essentials free of charge and refer people to local charitable organizations. The shop also collects clothing and bedding for two other church ministries, HIHI and the Midnight Run.
