Clothing, furniture, books, toys and small kitchen appliances fill the shelves at Miranda's Rescue Thrift Store in Fortuna, along with antiques, housewares, sporting equipment and media such as DVDs, VHS tapes and records. Bright yellow columns run the length of the long sales floor, and the doors are open seven days a week.
Donations are accepted without an appointment on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Items must be clean and in good condition, and electrical goods have to work. Women's clothing is especially needed. Furniture is welcome too, with pickups scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and large items bought in the store can be delivered. Every sale raises money for Miranda's Rescue, a nonprofit charity that cares for rescued large and small animals.
