Purchases and donations at the Grey Bears Thrift Store in Santa Cruz help fund the Healthy Food Program run by Grey Bears, a nonprofit that delivers fresh produce and staples to seniors every week. The store has a computer electronics section with refurbished desktops and laptops, tablets, phones, monitors, TVs, stereo gear and gaming systems, plus movies, CDs and vinyl. It also has a bookshop with thousands of titles in every genre.
Household donations are accepted every day at a drop-off station under a long green metal awning with the words "Donation Drop-Off" across the front. Clothing and furniture are half off on certain weekdays and Saturdays, and a half-off sale across the whole store runs on the second Saturday of each month. The doors are open seven days a week.
