Donations go straight to the counter during drop-off hours on Thursdays through Saturdays, and free truck pickups can be scheduled on weekdays. Hinds Thrift takes most items that are clean and working, but not mattresses, car seats, large appliances, building supplies or anything that needs repair. The Chowchilla shop is open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday, and offers daily and weekly discounts plus a loyalty rewards program.
Hinds LifeCare runs the store, and the money it brings in pays for the nonprofit's programs for patients and their families, such as Angel Babies, Circle of Friends and Survivors of Suicide Loss. The racks and shelves hold clothing, housewares, books, jewelry, furniture and collectibles. Above the front windows, a white sign spells out the name in bold navy letters next to a looping green-and-blue emblem.
