FAM Resale Store, the resale boutique of Family Assistance Ministries in Laguna Niguel, California, is open seven days a week. Family Assistance Ministries, known as FAM, is an inter-faith charitable nonprofit alliance that provided more than 68,000 services last year. Its work targets root-cause issues through flexible housing, food and personal care items, counseling and life skills support, and income tax preparation for clients working toward independence.
More than 2,000 volunteers support the organization, and the number of households it served rose 26 percent this year. FAM also holds a yearly Hunger Walk, now in its 39th year, to fight hunger in the community. Out front, a chalkboard sign set in a carved, whitewashed wooden frame points the way in, and inside, shelves hold ceramic vases and plates.
