Every sale at Second Time Around in Tracy helps fund the McHenry House Tracy Family Shelter. The nonprofit has served local families in crisis since 1987, offering emergency and transitional housing, counseling, and help finding jobs. The thrift store gives people in need access to affordable goods and also provides the shelter with a steady source of funding.
The shop is open weekdays and closed on weekends. Donations of clothing, shoes and small household items are accepted on weekday mornings at the McHenry House office. The organization can no longer take furniture, children's gear, toys or electronics. A maroon-and-cream striped awning shades the storefront, and racks of clothing are set out beneath it. The store also accepts volunteers to help run it.
