In Houston, the Champions Goodwill pairs a thrift store with a donation center, both run by Goodwill Houston, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Sales here fund job training and placement for people facing barriers to employment, including veterans, older workers, at-risk youth, the formerly incarcerated and individuals with disabilities.
The store is open seven days a week and into the evening, and the donation drop-off starts taking items an hour before the sales floor opens. Goodwill Houston runs weekly discounts across its stores and offers career services and staffing help alongside its shops. The red brick building has white trim and a sign topped with a Texas flag emblem that calls it a Goodwill Select Store & Donation Center.
