Houston is home to this Goodwill thrift store and donation center, where shopping and dropping off donated goods happen at the same stop. Goodwill Houston, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, runs the store, and its sales support the organization's work to educate, train and hire people who face barriers to employment.
That job training and placement work serves veterans, older workers, at-risk youth, the formerly incarcerated and people with disabilities, connecting families and communities with the workforce needs of today and tomorrow. The store is open seven days a week and stays open into the evening. Bright blue lettering runs across its peach-colored front, which is set off by stone-clad pillars.
