MT Hope House of Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in DeSoto, Texas, and it runs Hope House Thrift Co. Money from the store helps pay for the group's food pantry, workforce development, wellness and family support programs. The store sells affordable clothing and household goods, plus furniture when it comes in, and what's on hand depends on what the community donates.
Donations of clothing, household goods, furniture and other usable items keep the store stocked, and volunteers help with sorting, merchandising and customer service. Hope House Thrift Co. is open six days a week and closed on Sundays. The store is also a hands-on retail training site where program participants learn customer service, cash handling, inventory management, merchandising and donation processing.
