In Lake Jackson, Texas, this Goodwill Houston location runs as both a thrift store and a donation center. Goodwill Houston is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and the store's sales support its job training and placement services for people with barriers to employment. Those include veterans, older workers, at-risk youth, the formerly incarcerated and people with disabilities.
The organization educates, trains and hires people facing those barriers, and it works to meet the workforce needs of local communities. The doors open seven days a week, with evening hours every day. A gray facade carries a large script sign beside a red, white and blue Goodwill logo shaped in the style of the Texas flag.
