Mission of Hope Furniture & Appliance Store is a ministry thrift store in Mobile, Alabama, and it sells furniture and appliances along with new mattresses in three comfort levels. It belongs to Mission of Hope Ministries, which has run a free, residential, faith-based recovery program for men and women with drug and alcohol addiction since 1971. Money from store sales helps keep that program free for the people who go through it.
Churches, organizations and individuals donate the goods the store sells. The ministry is raising money to build a new thrift store close to the current one. The store is open six days a week and closed on Sundays. Its tan brick building has a deep red band along the top, with white banners carrying the ministry's name and its line about breaking the chains of addiction.
