Every sale at Southern Souls Thrift Shop pays for the care of the animals sheltered by Southern Souls Animal League, the nonprofit rescue that runs it. The Eufaula shop is open six days a week and closed on Sundays. Hundreds of pounds of clothing are sorted there each week, and some of it goes into mystery boxes of about ten pounds each, in vintage, women's or men's styles.
The league has been placing animals in new homes since 2013, and the money from its sales also supports spay and neuter programs, medical care and other rescue work in the community. Thrift goods are also sold online through eBay, Poshmark and Mercari. The shop sits in a painted blue-gray brick building with a large window on each side of a glass double door.
