Lakeland Habitat ReStore raises money for Lakeland Habitat for Humanity, which works with businesses, churches and organizations to provide decent, affordable housing for homeowners, low-income elderly residents and veterans. In recent years the affiliate has moved its focus from new construction to a Home Repair Program that fixes leaky roofs, broken windows, plumbing problems and other critical safety issues in existing homes.
The store sells new, used and surplus donated goods, and the ReStore also runs an online shop. Shoppers buying large items are asked to bring someone to help with loading. Inside, a blue and green wall shows the ReStore name above the words "Recycle Reduce Reuse Rebuild," next to a wooden sign that keeps count of homes built and repaired. The Lakeland store is open six days a week and closed on Sundays.
