Clothing and home goods fill the thrift store run by Caring & Sharing, a Salida nonprofit that has worked to meet the physical and spiritual needs of its community since 1970. Sales from the store pay for the organization's other programs. These include the Neighborhood Sharing Pantry, which keeps food staples and basic necessities on hand for people in need, and the Open Table Lunch, a home-style community meal for locals.
Gifts of money, goods and volunteer time keep the work going, and the group also welcomes people who want to host food drives. The store sits behind brown wood siding with a red roofline, and its name is spelled out in large white letters across the front. It is open five days a week.
