Every purchase and donation at this Salvation Army Family Store in Swanzey, New Hampshire, pays for the organization's local social service programs. The money stays in the community and helps residents who need assistance. The store accepts clothing, furniture and household items, and it is open six days a week, closed on Sundays.
Donors call the store first to set a time to drop off their items. A sign marks the donation area where goods can be left. The store takes only working, reusable items and cannot accept anything broken or not working. Clothing and other washable items must be clean when donated, because soiled goods are turned away. The store also takes volunteers, and the manager can explain its current needs.
