In Lake Havasu City, Veterans Thrift has operated as a nonprofit since August 2014, when it was started to assist the VA and veterans in need. All proceeds from the thrift store fund direct services for veterans, and all cash donated to the store goes to veterans and veterans' projects.
The nonprofit lends power chairs, wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds and other medical supplies to veterans at no charge, and it now helps locals with medical needs too. Furniture, clothing and appliances from the store go to veterans and locals in need, and a vehicle donation program restores donated cars for veterans who need transportation. The store, open five days a week, sits behind tall palms, with a red-and-blue lettered sign out front and furniture set out under its covered porch.
