Run by the Holloman Spouses Organization, a nonprofit group for military spouses, Holloman Thrift Store operates on Holloman Air Force Base and is open on weekdays and closed on weekends. Active duty members in grades E-1 through E-5 and their spouses get a monthly store credit to spend in the shop. A uniform corner gives uniform pieces and accessories free to service members of any rank, who take what fits and let the cashier know. One room is lined with bookshelves, including a tall blue case packed with paperbacks.
Inside the store is Cinderella's Closet, recently renovated, where formal gowns and accessories can be rented at no cost. The closet keeps the same hours as the store, and no appointment is needed.
