A not-for-profit Christian ministry, New Hope Thrift Store is run by New Holland Mennonite Church, and its sales support local and statewide ministries. The church describes the work as a way of loving its neighbors, and as the ministry grows it hopes to help with disaster relief efforts around the world.
Alongside the shop itself, the store runs a Fire Victim Assistance Program and a separate charity assistance effort. The church got the building by first cleaning up the property for its owner, then renovated it and opened on October 5, 2021. The Batesburg-Leesville store is open four days a week in a white-painted brick building with black-and-white striped awnings.
