Volunteers keep St John's Thrift Shop running in Green River, Wyoming. They sort donated items, put merchandise out on the floor and staff the checkout counter. The shop welcomes new helpers for all three of those jobs.
The doors open only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Books take up a large share of the sales floor, where a bright yellow bookcase holds rows of paperback novels and a bottom shelf of children's picture books, with stuffed animals lined up along its top. More shelves of hardcovers, cookbooks and craft titles fill the corner beside it. Wooden shelving nearby holds shoes, so the stock goes beyond reading material. St John's Thrift Shop serves Green River shoppers on each of its three open days every week.
