Shopping at the Bargain Box happens on Fridays and Saturdays, and donations are taken on both of those days. Wednesday mornings are set aside only for dropping off donations. Space is limited, so the volunteers are selective about what they accept. They welcome clean clothing, shoes and accessories for men, women and children, along with toys, puzzles and household goods for the kitchen, dining room or living room.
Volunteers from the Church of the Good Shepherd in Reading, Massachusetts, run the shop as part of the church's mission. Sales benefit the church and people in need in the community. The Box regularly sends donations to local charities, including Bread of Life, the Reading Food Pantry, Mission of Deeds and Ecclesia Ministries, and it also supports the Rector's Discretionary Fund.
