St. James Episcopal Church in Kent, Washington, runs St James Thrift Shop as a non-profit, and donations to it are tax deductible. The shop takes clothing and small household goods. Shopping and donation drop-offs both happen on its open days, which are Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The shop is part of the church's wider community engagement work. That work also includes a New Roots community garden, run with the International Rescue Committee, which gives refugee and immigrant families land, materials and education to grow healthy food. The church also has an outreach office that helps low-income and unsheltered Kent residents with food, clothing and IDs. The entrance is a bright red double door set into a pale metal-sided building, under a white banner with the shop's name.
