Beside the entrance of Thrift Stop sits a weathered white cabinet, its chipped paint framing the word "Welcome" in curling metal script. Above it, an electric OPEN sign glows red inside a ring of blue and green lights in the front window. This secondhand shop serves customers in Irving, Texas. It keeps its doors open six days a week, Sunday included. On at least one of those days, business runs into the evening.
