Happy Tails Thrift Shop in Akron is open six days a week, Sundays included, and stays open into the evening on several days. Donations are accepted on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and large or heavy pieces need a scheduled drop-off time. Donated items are usually checked in the same day and often go on sale within 24 hours. The shop does not take clothing, shoes, bedding or most electronics.
The Humane Society of Summit County runs the shop, and all of the money from sales goes to rescuing and caring for the animals at its shelter. The shelves hold home goods, small furniture, kitchenware, books and media, craft supplies, jewelry, handbags, toys and pet accessories, as well as antiques and vintage pieces.
