Every sale at Dorcas Thrift Shop in Cary supports NeighborUp, a nonprofit that gives neighbors facing hardship financial and food assistance, workforce development and community support. Clothing, housewares, books, electronics, art, jewelry, crafts and vintage collectibles fill the shop, and an online store sells vintage and specialty pieces for pickup in the store. Most days bring a markdown on a different category, along with recurring Dorcas Discount Days and a loyalty program that earns points on purchases.
Donors pull into a drive-up lane where team members unload their cars, and drop-off is closed on Wednesdays. Furniture, large appliances and hazardous materials are not accepted. The shop is open six days a week, closed Sundays, in a white brick building with a tall arched entrance.
