Proceeds from the Kiwanis Thrift Sale in Ann Arbor, Michigan, pay for scholarships, gifts and support for children and families in the local community. The Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, owns the Kiwanis Center and runs the sale with help from club members, volunteers and employees. Everything sold is donated, and new merchandise arrives every week.
The stock runs from antiques, furniture and appliances to clothing for men, women and children, plus books, music, bicycles, sporting goods, medical equipment and pet supplies, and some collectibles are sold on eBay. The store is open Fridays and Saturdays, drop-off donations are taken on Saturdays only, and pick-ups can be scheduled. A concrete ramp with railings leads up to the entrance of the tan brick building, next to blue-and-white Kiwanis signs.
