In Evansville, Indiana, The Thrift Store is run by the Evansville Rescue Mission, and all of its profits go to the Mission's ministries and the daily needs of the community. Residents of the Mission's P.A.C.E.S. program volunteer at the store every day, which gives them retail experience and time working with the public. The racks and floor hold clothing from infant to adult sizes, furniture, used appliances, linens, knick-knacks and brand-new mattresses.
Donated household goods, furniture and clothing are taken in through the ERM Donation Center, a central hub that supplies the Mission's thrift stores. Mission Grounds, the Mission's coffee shop, is connected to the store. The store is open six days a week and closed on Sundays. Green lettering spells out its name across a long dark-brick front, and black-and-white striped awnings hang over the doors.
