Surplus government property fills this West Palm Beach store. It runs as a municipal investment recovery cooperative of seventeen local governments, including the international airport, the Sheriff's Office, the Solid Waste Authority, the Healthcare District and a number of municipalities. It's a public service of the Palm Beach County government, all proceeds go back to the county's taxpayers, and it has been operating for 31 years.
Fleet-maintained cars, vans, pickups, SUVs, trucks and heavy equipment are a specialty. A green diamond mark on a vehicle or equipment lot means a maintenance history is available to any bidder. The store opens only on Saturdays, when it holds its sale and auction, and it also offers sealed bids and retail specials. Inside the warehouse, a hanging sign marks a hand tools section lined with steel wire shelving.
