Every profit from The Bargain Box Thrift Store in Greeley goes to the community programs of Volunteers Enriching Weld, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit formerly known as the Assistance League of Greeley. The organization has no paid employees, and volunteers run it entirely. Store sales pay for new clothing for assault survivors, school uniforms for Title I students, art supplies for children waiting in hospitals, blankets for seniors and shelters, and scholarships for single parents. Free File of Life medical forms for emergency responders can be picked up at the store.
The shop is open four days a week. Donations come in through the receiving door at the back during those hours, and each donor gets a tax receipt. The store does not accept large furniture, most electronics, car seats or strollers, helmets, medical equipment, exercise machines or oversized toys.
