In Bowling Green, Kentucky, the Community Store has been run by Hope House Ministries since 2014. The ministry opened it to create jobs and to give neighbors a dignified, affordable way to get household necessities for their families. The store also connects shoppers with the ministry's other programs. Participants in Jobs for Life and Program Living work there to earn income and gain work experience.
Everyone is welcome to shop. The store sells clothing and shoes for men, women and children, plus furniture, home decor, curtains, linens, comforters and blankets. It also stocks dishes, glasses and mugs, purses, bags and suitcases, books, toys and electronics. Inventory changes daily, and Hope House accepts item donations for the store. It is open six days a week and closed on Sundays.
