The location is independently owned and operated as a franchise of Winmark Corporation, the Minneapolis-based resale company behind the Plato's Closet brand. Its doors are open seven days a week, with evening hours on at least one day. A row of black fitting-room doors, each fronted by a dressed mannequin form, runs beneath gold wall lettering that reads "Style Is Original. Be Yourself."
Rather than taking donations, the store buys used clothing and accessories directly from the people who bring them in. It purchases styles for every season, all day and every day, with no appointment necessary, and sellers walk out with cash on the spot.
