A charity thrift shop in Watertown, Massachusetts, Sister Thrift has raised money for the MetroWest Humane Society, a nonprofit no-kill cat shelter, since two sisters founded it in 2004. They wanted a shared venture that would help the community, the environment and animals. Bright blue lettering and a white paw-print logo cover the shop's glass doors.
Donations are tax-deductible, with receipts given at drop-off, and are taken during business hours, until mid-afternoon on Saturdays. Accepted goods include clothing and textiles, shoes, books, CDs, DVDs, household items, small appliances, small furniture, jewelry, electronics, laptops, bicycles and sporting equipment. Cribs, car seats, mattresses, TVs, desktop computers and large furniture are turned away. The shop is open five days a week and closed Sundays and Mondays.
