Lomita has its own Savers thrift store, run by TVI, Inc., a for-profit company. Its racks and shelves hold clothing for the whole family, plus dinnerware, accessories, books, housewares and electronics. The tan building has a red metal roofline and a large red Savers Thrift Superstore sign.
Donations made here raise money for the American Red Cross, which Savers pays for the goods, though shopping itself benefits no nonprofit. The store takes clothing and shoes, bags, bed and bath linens, sporting goods, books, toys, small appliances and small furniture. Donors get a coupon toward a later purchase. Shoppers 55 and older get a discount every Tuesday, and Super Savers Club members have their own sales. The doors are open seven days a week, into the evening.
