Secondhand Treasures is the thrift shop of Southwest Animal Rescue Fund, a New Mexico nonprofit and federal 501(c)(3) organization that works to relieve the suffering of homeless animals. The shop's profits fund other local nonprofit rescue groups and pay for direct care for animals, mostly dogs, that need medical attention, housing or hospice care. Its shelves hold men's and women's clothing, shoes, handbags, jewelry, books, CDs, DVDs, kitchenware, artwork, furniture and collectibles.
Donations are tax-deductible and accepted during business hours, though not items needing cleaning or repair, cribs, car seats, mattresses, computer equipment or TVs. The shop is open five days a week, Sundays included, in a barn-red building with bright blue doors and a small upper balcony. After 11 and a half years at another spot in Corrales, it moved in November 2022 and now fills both buildings on its property.
