PAWS Thrift Store in Albuquerque is a charity shop, and all of its profits go to Cottonwood Cats Sanctuary. The sanctuary is an all-volunteer group with no paid staff. It gives permanent homes to cats that have outlived their caretakers and to cats over ten years old that were passed over at shelters. It also offers temporary refuge to cats of domestic violence victims and of deployed military personnel.
The shelves hold clothes, shoes, bedding, household goods, DVDs, records and seasonal items, and the selection changes constantly. Donated goods fill the stock, and volunteers help run the store, which is open four days a week, Sundays included. Out front, a white sign with a red paw print spells out the store's name in blue and black letters.
