Henderson's The Giving Store is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) thrift boutique that is open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday. It sells clothing for men, women and children, plus household goods, toys, electronics, tools, books, games and furniture. Weekly discount days honor seniors, local businesses, first responders and veterans, and a colored-tag program marks down selected items. The store sits behind an arched tan facade framed by white stone pillars.
Donations are dropped off at the back of the store. Furniture needs approval with photos first, and the store does not take damaged goods, large appliances or mattresses. Part of the proceeds goes to S.A.F.E. House, Henderson's shelter for victims of domestic violence. Donations that can't be sold go to other nonprofits for gift cards, which residents use to set up new homes when they leave the shelter.
