In Merrillville, Indiana, the Salvation Army Family Store & Donation Center pairs a thrift shop with a drop-off point for donations. Revenue from its sales supports the charity's adult rehabilitation programs. A red Salvation Army shield hangs near the entrance, and bold red letters reading "Thrift Store" run across the far end of the storefront. The store opens six days a week, stays open into the evening on at least one of them, and closes on Sundays.
