Lafayette has its own Plato's Closet, an independently owned franchise of a resale brand from Winmark Corporation. This second-hand clothing store buys and sells current styles for teens and young adults, including clothes and accessories for both guys and girls. It carries mall brands as well as everyday basics, and a loyalty program is open to shoppers who sign up.
Selling works differently from donating. People bring in their clothes without an appointment and get paid in cash on the spot for the pieces the store accepts. The doors are open seven days a week, with evening hours on at least one day. Out front, the store's name runs across a tan facade in bold red letters, and a clothes hanger sits inside the "O" of Plato's.
