Blue Jacket Clothing Company has focused on business professional clothing since its soft launch in August 2012. It offers suits, dresses, pants, shirts, jackets, ties, shoes, purses and belts to the Fort Wayne community. The store is a social enterprise of the nonprofit Blue Jacket, Inc., which works to remove barriers to employment, and all proceeds support that mission.
The store adds to the Career Academy clothing bank, which gives Academy clients interview clothes at no cost. It also hires and trains Blue Jacket graduates in transitional jobs through Blue Jacket Staffing. Agencies, schools and employers can arrange purchase vouchers for the people they serve. Donations of business professional clothing are accepted during store hours, Monday through Saturday. Above the entrance, the name is spelled out in bold blue letters over a matching blue band.
