In Fort Wayne, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Fort Wayne operates the ReStore, a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center. It sells new and used furniture, appliances, lighting, flooring and cabinets. Every sale goes toward the organization's work providing affordable homeownership to qualified families in the community. The store is open to the public six days a week and closed Sundays.
Donations of household items and building materials can be dropped off during business hours, or a free pick-up can be scheduled with the ReStore team. Businesses, manufacturers and contractors also partner with the store on larger donations, which are collected at no charge. Last year the Fort Wayne ReStore kept 1,280 tons of material out of landfills. Blue covered lanes marked Pick-Up and Drop-Off flank a tall gray tower bearing the ReStore name.
