Donations come in on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and the shop is open every day of the week. It takes tax-deductible donations of household goods, furniture, small appliances, books, jewelry and clothing. Some donated items go straight to clients of Community Against Violence, and the rest are sold to fund the nonprofit's services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Community Against Violence, a Taos 501(c)(3), runs the store alongside a 24-hour helpline and textline, legal and medical advocacy, counseling and support groups, children's programs, an emergency shelter, and transitional housing. All of these services are free and confidential. The thrift store also sells gift certificates and relies on volunteers to help keep it running. It sits in a two-story tan stucco building with a red banner, and yellow wildflowers grow along the front.
