Every dollar raised at this Los Alamos shop goes to Northern New Mexico mission activities sponsored by the Women's Christian Service Society, the group that runs the United Church Thrift Store. The shop sits on the campus of The United Church of Los Alamos and is open for shopping on Wednesday mornings only.
Donated clothes, linens, housewares, jewelry, shoes, booster seats, toys and books fill the shelves. The shop does not take large appliances, furniture, textbooks, encyclopedias, car seats or VHS tapes. Donations can be left at any time in the bins by the lower-level door of Craig Hall. On most days of the week, volunteers sort and price the incoming goods for the Wednesday sale, and anyone may join in for as long as they like. Separate from the shop, the society also holds a Halloween sale and a Christmas sale.
