Roswell, New Mexico, is home to the thrift shop run by Assistance League of Chaves. Its sales are the main source of funding for the chapter's philanthropic programs. Member volunteers staff and manage it entirely, five days a week. Stock includes antiques and collectibles, men's, women's and children's apparel and shoes, books for all ages, housewares, linens, home decor, seasonal items and jewelry, plus tools, sporting goods and baby clothes as they arrive. Framed paintings line the walls above long rows of clothing racks. All sales are final.
Donations are tax-deductible, and volunteers help unload them at the entrance door Tuesday through Thursday. The shop does not accept broken household goods, damaged clothing, food, computers, encyclopedias, infant car seats, batteries or large appliances.
